satellite cell phoneNoting the recent boom in the cellular market, and the connectivity potential of the satellite phone market, it is own natural that the two communications technologies should go through a marriage in which their respective technologies are morphed into one handheld device capable of working anywhere on the globe, be it land, sea or air.Satellite cellular phones provide the global reach of a satellite phone, with the local, handheld/lightweight convenience of a cellular phone. In fact, satellite cell phones are more or less indistinguishable from commonly used cellular phones. These combination phones are either represented as dual or tri-mode phones, in that they are functional outside a standard GSM / satellite / GPS network. The beauty of satellite cell phones is that they function across GSM / satellite networks automatically. That is to say, they will function as a cellular phone until a cellular network can no longer be detected. At that point, they will morph to become satellite capable.
